Shannon Ridge Family of Wines Names Travis Proctor as Winemaker

Lower Lake, CA (February 3, 2021) – Shannon Ridge Family of Wines has announced the appointment of Travis Proctor as Winemaker, effective immediately. Proctor will be responsible for the Shannon Ridge High Elevation Collection, Vigilance, Urgency, Steele, and Shooting Star brands, and will report directly to Joy Merrilees, Director of Winemaking and Production for Shannon Ridge Family of Wines.

“I’m excited to be working with North Coast fruit once again,” said Proctor. “Shannon Ridge Family of Wines has an eye on sustainable growth and best quality winemaking. I enjoy the diversity of fruit sourcing, the focus on sustainability and quality in farming, and how the final product portfolio provides an opportunity for the winemakers to really shine.”

“We are dedicated in our pursuit to produce world class wines that will showcase the unique growing area of Lake County,” stated Clay Shannon, President and CEO of Shannon Ridge Family of Wines. “Travis is a fantastic winemaker and I believe he will play a key role in helping us reach our goals.”

Proctor comes to Shannon Ridge following varied winemaking stints at Joe Dobbes Family Estate in Oregon, Terravant Wine Company, a custom crush facility located in Buellton, and Mazzocco Winery in Healdsburg. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California.

About Shannon Ridge Family of Wines
The Shannon family is committed to preserving their land, not only for the great vineyard sites but also for the bear, elk, mountain lions, eagles and other creatures which live there. Of their approximately 2,500 acres, only about 45% have been converted to vineyards. The balance of the land has been preserved for the wildlife which wanders through the property from the expansive wilderness areas adjoining the ranches. The vineyards were carefully planned out, leaving corridors open to migrating animals and protecting sensitive nesting areas.

The Shannon Ridge Family of Wines portfolio includes Shannon Ridge High Elevation Collection, Buck Shack, Clay Shannon, High Valley, OVIS, Pistol Grip, Urgency, Vigilance, Giannecchini and Shannon Reserve.
