(Napa Valley, CALIF.) —Winemaker Bernard Portet, along with Managing General Partner Don Chase, has launched Heritance, the first Napa Valley wine brand and the first release from their newly-formed Polaris Wines, LLC.
The first Heritance wines released are the 2010 Heritance Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley ($18 National Suggested Retail) and the 2008 Heritance Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley ($28 National Suggested Retail).
Heritance begins with 1 family that has 9 generations of wine experience. Portet is a Napa Valley winemaking icon (Co-Founder of Clos du Val) and visionary who has been making wine for decades. Born in France, he grew up on a vineyard that his family has owned since the late 1600s. He learned from his father, and then studied enology and viticulture before carrying on his family tradition. Bernard Portet represents the ninth generation of a family of wine growers and winemakers from France.
While he began making wine in France, it has been a worldwide journey for Bernard Portet. Having made wine on 4 continents, Europe, South America, Australia and North America, he continues to make wine around the world.
