List of top 50 wine business venture fundings. Coravin #1 in total financing
FIRST, AN APOLOGY: As you know, you usually get the free (redacted) version of premium articles in an email before they appear in the daily News Fetch email.
This week, I goofed.
When I set the time and date configurations on the server to send this to you, I made a typo and the email never went out. And here it is. My apologies for late delivery.
Early this upcoming week, you will get another premium email with funding details for Sonoma Cider -- formerly a prime contractor for canned wine. The assets of Sonoma Cider are now up for auction, and we will have details on what is for sale.
Coravin: #1 in wine venture funding

Un-redacted versions of the graphics above are available to Wine Executive News premium subscribers who can log-in here:
A note from Wine Industry Insight Publisher and Executive Editor Lewis Perdue about this article and the regular series to come:
As noted in the disclaimer in the chart and table above, we recognize that the data we have reluctantly extracted from our research into private fundings will always be incomplete thanks to the lack of transparency that plagues the wine industry in particular.
This is in stark contrast to the far more open data available on technology company fundings.
As a financial journalist covering technology for TheStreet.Com, WallStreetJournal.Com and others, I grew accustomed to openness and enthusiasm from investors and companies. Investors liked the exposure because it brought them deals. Companies liked it because they had a better idea of who to pitch. Both sides benefited from transparency and openness.
Whether intentional or not, the wine industry's near-impenetrable secrecy will continue to put a damper on deals overall. That hermit-like isolation also sabotages due diligence on both sides of the deal by making sure that information, market statistics, performance metrics, and other data are mostly unavailable. "
We will do our best to dig out and verify information. If something is incomplete or off-base, then step up and offer verifiable information. If you have that sort of information and don't share, then you have no cause for complaint."

3 More places where you can find VIP premium content
Every article that contains premium content will usually be the top link in the daily News Fetch unless some monumental news bumps it to #2.
For your convenience and future reference, all of the News Fetch emails are automatically converted to web pages and can be found here: NewsFetch Newsletter Archives.
In addition, articles that contain premium content will also be in the "Features" category on the Wine Industry Insight web site.
Why 2 billing systems?
Because our billing company of the past nine years was bought by a company that does not accept American Express, we have had to change our subscription process, and the method of accessing premium content. (Here’s more about that.)
