Craft beer, cocktails & Millennial frugality eating away at wine sales growth in restaurants Source: Silicon Valley Bank
"We believe the reasons for this change are explained by more at-home consumption and a behavior change of our frugal millennial consumers who are more likely to satisfy their restaurant consumption needs by starting with a beer or cocktail, then having a glass of wine rather than a bottle of wine with dinner." -- State of the Wine Industry, 2016 - Silicon Valley Bank

TODAY'S FEATURED WINE
This feature is moving to "occasional" rather than daily.
It has become prohibitively expensive to find a new wine or beer for a daily feature by purchasing at retail.
The daily schedule also involves a lot of waste because at least half (and sometimes more) of the wine bought at retail is undrinkable for my taste. This means full bottles being poured down the drain.
There is simply no reliable way to know if I will have any chance of liking a wine that I have not previously tried.
And even when the wine fits my palate, there is too much left over on a daily basis for me to drink in a healthy manner.
This NewsFetch was hand-crafted for you by Editor/Publisher Lewis Perdue. Editor Becca Yeamans-Irwin (The Academic Wino) is on maternity leave.
