TODAY'S FEATURED WINE - From the archive: Aug. 21, 2014
Lewis Perdue's Rating of Orin Swift: Red Blend: : I-1 By Dave Phinney: non vintage: Italy
Another "late bloomer" that needs to wake up or be vigorously decanted until it has a head.
When it wakes up, it shows raspberries and figs and the right amount of oak and tannins to make this a big wine.
Non-vintage blend of Negroamaro, Nero d’Avola, Barbera, and native varietals from Puglia. $15.99 at Safeway. Orin Swift has never failed me yet.
WINE REVIEW POLICY: For winery tasting samples, gifts from friends or family or samplings at a party or event, review it truthfully, but only if I like it. If I have paid my own very-hard-earned money on a bottle, the gloves are off and it gets what it deserves ... whether perfect or puerile.
