TODAY'S FEATURED WINE

Lewis Perdue's Rating of The Prisoner Wine Company: Red Blend: Napa Valley - California: : 2012: United States

This faded beauty is the Blanche DuBois of wine and will have to depend upon the kindness of strangers to keep buying it.

Overly soft with weak tannins and squishy structure. Vague memories, badly recalled, of cherries and mocha. Totally not worth the $39.99 BevMo charges ... which is 1 cent less expensive than buying the current 2013 vintage.

This is the most recent over-the-hill, has-been I have bought at BevMo. I loved the 2011 Prisoner which is why I bought this one.

I love Orin Swift's wines, but this one is an old, flawed leftover being blown out at top dollar.

Yes, I am a sucker, but I have learned my lesson: NoMo BevMo!

At this price this prisoner should go to Guantanamo.

Priced at an almost-honest $14.99 it could get by in Martha Stewart's old cell at Camp Cupcake in Alderson, WV

 HEADS UP!

Lew is sick of wasting most of his wine dollars on stuff he pours down the drain.

Will Buy No Wine Before He's Tried 'Em

So, for now on, Lew is not going to buy anything he has not tasted first.

Lew doesn't get many tasting samples, so this new direction means that you will see an increase in the number of different wines he buys from a single winery.

REVIEW POLICY:

The old review policy still holds -- For winery tasting samples, gifts from friends or family or samplings at a party or event, review it truthfully, but only if I like it. If I have paid my own very-hard-earned money on a bottle, the gloves are off and it gets what it deserves ... whether perfect or puerile.
